In-Home Therapy in Fort Wayne and Northwest Indiana

Support Within Your Living Environment

You’ve been trying to manage everything within your home — parenting, routines, behaviors, stress — and it can feel like nothing is really changing.

Maybe you’ve tried strategies, read articles, talked things through, or even attended therapy before, but once you’re back in your day-to-day environment, it’s hard to apply what you’ve learned. The same patterns keep showing up, and it can feel exhausting trying to figure out what to do differently.

You’re not alone in that.

That’s where community-based and nature therapy can offer something different.

Instead of talking about what’s happening at home, we work with you within the environment where it’s actually happening. This allows us to better understand what you’re experiencing and provide support that is immediate, practical, and directly applicable to your daily life.

Is Home-based therapy right for you?

In-home therapy may be a good fit if you:

  • Want support within your actual living environment
  • Are navigating challenges that primarily occur at home
  • Would benefit from real-time coaching and hands-on support
  • Have difficulty accessing office-based or virtual care
  • Have mobility limitations or transportation barriers that make leaving home difficult

In-home therapy may not be the best fit if you:

  • Are not comfortable having sessions in your home
  • Do not have a space that can reasonably support a safe and focused session
  • Prefer the flexibility of virtual sessions
  • Have scheduling or environmental factors that make in-home visits difficult
  • Require a higher level of care or structured clinical setting

If in-home therapy isn’t the right fit, we can explore online (virtual) therapy or community-based options that better align with your needs. We understand that needs can change over time, and services can be adjusted to best support you.

The FAQs

It’s normal to have questions about how community-based and nature therapy works. Below are answers to some of the most common questions. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, we’re here to help.  Feel free to contact us with your question at [email protected].

WHAT IS IN-HOME THERAPY?

In-home therapy takes place in your home environment, allowing your therapist to work with you in the context of your daily routines, relationships, and real-life challenges. This approach helps make therapy more practical, relevant, and immediately applicable.

Who is in-home therapy best suited for?

In-home therapy can be especially helpful for:
  • Children and adolescents with behavioral or emotional challenges
  • Parents and families navigating routines, stress, or communication concerns
  • Individuals who benefit from support within their natural environment
  • Individuals with accessibility issues
  • Clients who have difficulty accessing traditional office-based services

What happens during an in-home session?

Sessions are tailored to your needs and may include conversation, observation of patterns, skill-building, and real-time coaching. Your therapist works with you within your environment to help you apply strategies directly to your daily life.

Will my therapist be observing my home or judging my environment?

No. The goal is not to evaluate or judge your home, but to better understand the context you’re living in so we can provide more effective, relevant support. We approach every home with respect, professionalism, and a focus on helping you feel comfortable and supported.

Is in-home therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is important to us. We work with you to maintain confidentiality and will discuss any considerations related to your home environment to ensure you feel comfortable with the process.

No. In-home therapy sessions cost the same amount as an office therapy session.

What is the home safety screening questionnaire?

Before beginning in-home therapy, you’ll complete a brief home safety screening questionnaire. This helps ensure that the environment is safe and appropriate for both you and your provider, and allows us to plan sessions in a way that supports everyone involved.

Do I need to prepare my home before a session?

There’s no need to make your home “perfect.” We simply ask that the space is safe, reasonably free of distractions, and allows for a comfortable and focused session.

Can other family members be present during sessions?

This depends on your treatment goals. Some sessions may involve multiple family members, while others may be more individual. Your therapist will work with you to determine what is most helpful.

What if I’m not comfortable having someone in my home?

That’s completely understandable. In-home therapy is just one option. We also offer virtual and community-based services, and your care can be adjusted over time based on your comfort and needs.

Can we switch between in-home and other types of therapy?

Yes. You are not limited to one format. Many clients begin with one type of service and transition to another over time. We adjust care to ensure it remains aligned with your goals and what will be most helpful.

What areas do you provide in-home therapy services?

We provide in-home therapy throughout Northwest Indiana (including Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Starke, Pulaski, Fulton, White, Cass, and Carroll Counties) and the greater Fort Wayne area.

Will this feel different than traditional therapy?

Yes — and in many cases, that’s what makes it effective. In-home therapy allows us to work within your real environment, which can lead to more practical, immediate, and lasting change.
